After 30 years of hands-on construction in seven countries, John, his wife, four daughters and two malamutes settled in Canada. In 1993, J.C.H. Pearson Consulting Inc. was born. Working solo in his basement, John began providing independent consulting services to clients with troubled construction projects. From the earliest days, Pearson Consulting offered clients independent, high quality construction advice upon which to base sound business decisions.
Bubble jet printers were replaced by laser jets and desktop computers by laptops. In the 2000’s, the staff had grown to eleven employees and we occupied offices in Bolton, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan. We had established ourselves as the “go-to” consultants for many of the top tier Canadian construction companies with clients from Newfoundland to Alberta and into the USA. We had become particularly active in New York City and Michigan supporting Canadian constructors expansion into the US market. Industry sectors served ranged from the complexity of power plant and hospital development through pipeline, roads and infrastructure to downtown Highrise.
Early in the decade, Pearson provided three Expert Reports and arbitration testimony in New York, New York related to the construction of an oil fired thermal power plant in Pakistan.
The 2010’s found Pearson Consulting providing our services from a new spacious office building in Bolton, Ontario. Adopting disciplined compliance with accepted protocols for the determination of delay and lost productivity responsibilities, we were now being retained, predominantly, through client counsel with an emphasis on Expert Reports. Espousing the pursuit of independent, balanced analysis and fact-based reporting, our Reports were increasingly used by clients and counsel in pursuit of pre-trial settlements.
Today, our clients entrust us with determining delay and cost responsibilities on the most complex troubled construction projects.

What challenge will be next?
In 1994, Pearson Consulting produced its first Expert Report in delay and testified at trial before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. In 1995 we began testifying in a 2-year hearing before an Arbitration Tribunal in Detroit, Michigan. From the very start, Pearson Consulting attracted clients with some of the most iconic construction projects in Canada, the USA and offshore. We became known by clients and counsel for the consistent high quality of our analysis and the clarity of our reporting.
In addition to consulting services, we began providing experienced Schedulers to help achieve and maintain client compliance with contractual requirements on complex construction projects. An early engagement was three years of resident on-site planning and scheduling for the first of Ontario’s Combined Cycle Power Plants.
